On the border between Gard and Ardeche and situated between the Cèze River gorge and the Gorge des l’Ardèche, Barjac enjoys magnificent views of the Cévennes mountains all the way to Mont Aigoual and Mont Lozere. It is a small town but is classified as one of Frances villages of character.

Its remarkable heritage of architecture is rich with mansions, carved facades, squares, pretty old renovated houses of stone in the warm colours of Provence and charming alleyways where you can take advantage of the shade provided by a bistro terrace for refreshment.

It is a renaissance town where you will find several remarkable buildings: the remains of the 14th century ramparts, the castle of the Counts of Roure (16th century), the current town hall, the church and the Capuchin monastery.
